Madrid reportedly favor move for Hazard and Lewandowski over Salah
- Updated: March 27, 2018
Emerging reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid will prioritize moves for the likes of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski ahead of a move for Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah.
This is being given credence by comments from Sky Sport’s Guillem Balague and Liverpool Echo’s Kristian Walsh. Their reports suggest that while Madrid favors a move for the duo ahead of the Egyptian, both players are desperate to make a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Their report suggests the Real Madrid have not expressed any form of interest in Mohammed Salah, and believe that the possible acquisition of Hazard will be favored ahead of a rumored move for Mohammed Salah.
“Salah is a difficult one because Real Madrid have no mention of him as a candidate to be a Galactico.
“You can think there is a market in Egypt and he is a star of the Premier League—he has a lot of things to go for him—but if they get Hazard they won’t need Salah.
“It seems like they wouldn’t put that much money into Salah. The summer is so long and anything can happen.
“Hazard is desperate to come and [Robert] Lewandowski is desperate to come.”
However, the news of Real Madrid’s supposed interest is one that will definitely not go down well with Liverpool fans as they will be desperate and hopeful that the Anfield giants keep hold of their exciting front three, especially after the departure of Coutinho to Barcelona. It can be recalled that the trio of Salah, Mane, and Firmino recently received plaudits from the Fan account Empire of the Kop.
The reason for Real Madrid’s intention to boost their attack is not far-fetched, considering the drop in the standard of Real’s attack this season, compared to previous seasons, with more emphasis in the first half of the season when Ronaldo seemed to have lost his scoring boots in domestic competitions.
Worse still is the fact that Ronaldo, before he started firing from all cylinders, was not alone in the struggles as Karim Benzema has just 4 goals in the La Liga this term. Therefore, it’s a no-brainer that the La Liga giants will be looking for red-hot striking alternatives and replacements for Cristiano Ronaldo, 33, as he edges towards the end of his career, with Welsh hitman Gareth Bale seemingly not favored by Zidane.
It is believed that the possible signing of Hazard confirms a decent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, albeit not quality wise, while Lewandowski has been earmarked as the perfect replacement for Benzema.
The topic of proven consistency in the careers of the trio of Hazard, Lewandowski, and Mohammed Salah could also be a major factor in Real Madrid’s potential move for any of them. Salah who has been a major revelation at Liverpool has yet to perform at such a level for a string of seasons while the likes of Hazard and Lewandowski have progressed steadily and have shown consistency at the top level for a good number of seasons.
Lewandowski could be classified as world class at Dortmund before his move to Bayern Munich where he has continued to impress. Hazard started at Lille and dominated the French Ligue One at a young age, hence the jostle for his signature among the Premier League’s elite before Chelsea won the battle for his signature. Hazard has also shown his mettle in the Premier League, steering Chelsea to domestic title wins, whilst emerging as a one time best player in the League. Same can’t be said of Salah who couldn’t cut it in his first opportunity in one of Europe’s elite clubs, Chelsea, before the move to Roma, and now Liverpool where he has been a major hit. It’s no surprise that there may be fears over his performances this season being ‘a one season wonder’. We wait to see.
