Real Madrid has been established over the years as one of the clubs that look outside of its academies for quality players, identify a target and then go all out for their man and acquire him with staggering transfer fees. Well, this hasn’t been the case in recent times as the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and now Zinedine Zidane have given some youth from the Madrid setup the opportunity to stake a claim for a first-team shirt, and notably, the likes of Asensio, Lucas Vazquez, Nacho Fernandez, and Achraf Hakimi among others have been beneficiaries of this recent development that has seen some of them come to limelight.

One of such youngsters from the Real Madrid youth academy who’ll most likely benefit from this recent development is Raul de Tomas, who has spent the last three seasons on loan to three different clubs in Spain to build his footballing potential. The youngster has shown his readiness for some good minutes in the Los Blancos senior team with his exploits at Rayo Vallecano in the Segunda Division in the 2017/18 season. The youngster returns to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and will be poised to take his chance if given the opportunity.

Meanwhile, his chances to represent the senior side will be boosted as current backup striker Borja Mayoral may have revealed his desire to quit Real Madrid in the summer. Raul has played a major part for the Segunda Division outfit in ensuring that they sit top of the league with a potential promotion to the top flight looming for the 2018/19 La Liga season.

Raul de Tomas has scored a whopping 24 goals in 30 league appearances for Vallecano, and this tally constitutes 36% of the goals which the club has scored this season (66). He also emerged as the player of the month twice in February and April, amid having the most hattricks by a single player in the league, all coming in 2018.

The attacker currently sits second on the goals chart, behind Valladolid forward, Jaime Mata, who has five more. De Tomas also has three assists to his name, and this is a vast improvement in his footballing abilities from previous seasons, thereby showing Madrid that he may be ready for a chance to prove his mettle in senior first-team action.

There has been an improvement in his attacking numbers every season since his loan move. He scored 6 in 26 appearances for Cordoba in his first loan stint and scored 14 goals in 36 appearances for Valladolid. The player appears to possess an impressive skill set with decent free-kick accuracy, raw finishing ability, and amazing awareness in the box, traits that should attract Zinedine Zidane. The future is bright for the youngster and obviously, the Bernabeu faithful will be pleased to see him return, and hope he is given the chance like others to show what he can contribute to the senior side in the 2018/19 La Liga season.
