Real Madrid Stars That Could Leave This Summer

Real Madrid are currently enduring a transition period and this upcoming summer transfer window is going to be pivotal to any potential success they wish to achieve in the near future.

Zinedine Zidane remarkably returned to the Bernabeu hotseat during this stuttering season in a bid to overturn form and fortunes, with the Frenchman replacing stand-in coach Santiago Solari. The latter Argentine had taken over short term for Julen Lopetegui, who failed to make an impact during his short and quite frustrating tenure.

French boss Zidane has a huge task on his hands in revamping his squad this summer and there could well be a massive clear out of players who aren’t performing before acquiring new additions. The likes of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba are high-profile targets in the coming months, but outgoings will be key first.

So, here are several Los Blancos stars that could well be set for the exit door from the Spanish giants.

Marcelo

For many years, Marcelo has been hailed as the best left back in world football and rightfully so. But he has more recently been linked with a shock departure from the club he has now spent over a decade with. He is part of a Brazil set-up that are currently the leading 5/4 favourites with bet365 in the international football betting to claim the latest Copa America crown that will be held in his home nation across June and July.

But this summer could mark the end of his Galacticos time and a link-up with close friend and former Bernabeu teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly on the cards at Juventus. Watch this space.

Toni Kroos

Germany’s World Cup-winning midfielder Toni Kroos is another Real Madrid star that’s linked with a surprise departure from the club.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a high-profile arrival in the Premier League, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United being the key side reportedly leading the chase for his widely-sought-after signature.

With Pogba tipped to go in the opposite direction, this is a switch that could well come to fruition if negotiations go well. He would be a big miss to the side, though, having become one of the most talented pass masters in European football.

Gareth Bale

Wales international attacking star Gareth Bale has long been linked with a high-profile move away from the Bernabeu and this summer looks most likely for that to finally come to fruition after falling out of favour in recent times.

Again, the Red Devils are touted as a potential suitor, while Premier League dominant force Manchester City are also linked.

The Welsh wide man has enjoyed a prestigious spell with Los Blancos to date, but he has never fully been taken in by the Real Madrid supporters. This and a recent fall from grace on the pitch could see him finally leave the club and make a return to the Premier League, where he shot to stardom with Tottenham Hotspur initially before his then world-record move to Spain.
