Emerging reports in Spain suggest that Germany international and Los Blancos midfielder Toni Kroos is now a summer transfer target of Premier League giants Manchester United.

Diario AS is reporting that Man United boss Jose Mourinho has held extensive talks with the Old Trafford outfit’s chief executive Ed Woodward over a possible move for the German midfielder who has caught the eye with his performances at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The report suggests that Jose Mourinho has identified Toni Kroos as the ideal and perfect replacement for Michael Carrick who retired last season and is now set to join the coaching staff at Old Trafford.

Man United are looking to shore up their midfield positions and the German will be a perfect fit, as they look to emerge victoriously on all fronts in the forthcoming 2018/19 football season.

It is believed that Kroos will be the ideal partner to Frenchman Paul Pogba in the middle of the park for Manchester United and also improve the team’s possession stats.

United had initially expressed interest in Kroos four years ago but pulled out of a deal to acquire his signature. The recent interest in the German is as a result of his alleged preference for a switch to Old Trafford should he leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, Kroos has been an integral part of the Real Madrid squad and has played his part significantly in winning two Champions League titles, and a La Liga title, in his time at the Bernabeu, whilst establishing an impressive partnership with Luka Modric.

Madrid are believed to be unwilling to let go of the player under any circumstance and have reportedly set his release clause to €500m.
