Modric – Madrid denounce Inter for illegal approach
- Updated: August 17, 2018

The battle for Luka Modric’s stay or departure from the Santiago Bernabeu to Inter Milan this summer took a new turn, with Real Madrid reportedly denouncing the Seria A outfit before FIFA.
This is coming as Real Madrid have alleged that Inter Milan made contact with the Croatia international and Russia 2018 World Cup Golden Ball winner without seeking prior permission from Florentino Perez.
Therefore, Inter Milan have been accused of making an illegal approach for Luka Modric. This is an action which has provoked the wrath of the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.
The move is described as illegal because it is only allowed in cases where the player who is the subject of an interest has a contract with less than six months running.

However, this is not the case with Real’s talismanic midfielder Luka Modric. Regardless, Inter Milan persisted until the end as the transfer window in Italy shut on Thursday.
It appears that the speculations about Modric’s desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu were just nothing more than speculations.
The rumors heightened although Real Madrid appeared relaxed about the issue as the possibility was very minute.
This is due to the fact that the player’s release clause is valued at €750 million and this was fixed in his renewal which was barely two years ago.
The figure was obviously beyond the reach of Inter Milan as well as other European clubs. This is with consideration to the player’s age as well as questions about how many quality years he still has to give in the midfield positions.
The club had reportedly considered offering Modric an improved contract in light of the recent speculations. However, they wouldn’t turn a blind eye to other clubs speaking to their player without prior consent.
