Modric not obsessed with the Ballon D’Or

Real Madrid’s key midfielder Luka Modric has been very impressive this year with some individual awards to back up his performances for both club and country.
He and Croatia had to settle for second place at the Russia 2018 World Cup after they lost 4:2 to France. He went on to win the coveted Golden Ball in the competition.
He also played his part nicely for Real Madrid in their successful third consecutive defense of the UEFA Champions League last season.
He was heavily targeted by Inter Milan in the summer but Real Madrid chose to keep hold of one of their most prized assets.

Luka Modric was yet again influential when Los Blancos hammered Roma 3 nil at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday. The Croatia international has been backed by many to emerge as the winner of the 2018 Ballon D’ Or award.
However, the player has revealed that individual awards are not his motivation, adding that he is not obsessed with winning the Ballon D’Or award
Modric said: “The World Cup has caused me a physical and mental exhaustion but now I feel better with every day that passes.
“I am proud that my teammates and the fans want me to win the Ballon d’Or but it is not an obsession; the important thing is the team, if I win it well, I will be very happy, but if I do not win it, life goes on.”
Meanwhile, his teammate Casemiro has tipped Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo to emerge as the winner of the award.
